Meandering Hearts,
The Unruly Garden
Living day to day, without a home, without familiar borders, creating without a studio...
After many, sometimes difficult transitions, my best bud and I set off for an adventure. Two bicycles, loaded with the essentials, down 1400 miles of roads, trails, and bike paths around the Pacific NW from Vancouver BC, through the San Juan Islands, around the Olympic Peninsula, and across the California borders on both ends we pedaled. It was stunning (oooh, awww), revealing (didn’t want to know about that), challenging (damn hard), sunny, wet, windy, steep, fast, slow and yet, beyond words.
We met people from different parts of the country, with different ways of moving through each day and from different parts of the world who crossed big water, unfamiliar terrain, greening valleys, small towns or busy streets to, at some point, have our paths cross and connect with us. That in itself is worth pondering, often. Like an overgrown garden that kept surprising us, each had its own place in the overall design of our adventure. And that is a beautiful thing!
